I remember watching a film a long time ago about two men who survived a plane crash in the Canadian Rockies.
One survivor was an elderly gentleman, played by Anthony Hopkins. The other, a younger man, played by Alec Baldwin. Lost in the Rockies with no supplies or equipment, they had to find food and shelter. And more urgently, protection from a very persistent hungry, black grizzly bear. You would have thought that Alec Baldwin, being younger, fitter and stronger would lead the older man. Except that Baldwin committed too many thinking errors. While he panicked, Hopkins calmly studied the situation and used his mind. He exercised thought control. And it was his resourcefulness and quick thinking that saved the day. Now that was just a film. Probably not a true story. But the message was clear. It's not physical strength, youth or even beauty that gets us through the wilderness of life. Certainly those qualities are an advantage. But it's our mind that determines whether we win or lose. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that "A man is what he thinks about all day long." What do you think about all day long? If you want to know what your thoughts are, look at your life. What are your results? Then ask yourself, are you thinking the best thoughts? It's worth a thought (pun intended), isn't it? Well, Gary Coxe tells us that you can change your negative cycles of thinking. And controlling your thoughts conditions you for success.
