My Wage
by J.B. Rittenhouse
A Bittersweet Poem about Life

by Georgina B.
(New York, US)

A Bittersweet Poem about Life

MY WAGE
By J.B Rittenhouse

I bargained with Life for a Penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,
He give you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial's hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.

Be Ambitious
by: Ivee

You are so right.

The lesson is to be ambitious.

I have also come to realize that what you aim for reflects your self esteem. Those with good self esteem aim high--and accomplish much.

I hope you are one of them.

It Can Be Bitter
by: Iain

It all boils down to what do you deserve.

Do you know what you deserve? Then if you are willing to work for it, hopefully, you will get it.

Again, it's about setting high enough goals.

The lesson is: don't aim too low.
