Feel Good Movies are Inspirational.
Watch Invictus--One of the Top Inspirational Movies Today.

Feel good movies give us more than comfort.

They can be inspirational. And I'll tell you why.

In my ongoing list of top inspirational movies, I had to note:

Invictus

(From the Latin word meaning unconquered, it is also the title of the Invictus Poem by English Poet, William Ernest Henley. The last two lines have become one of the most inspirational movie quotes today.)

Invictus, is a film based on the life of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it fittingly stars Morgan Freeman as the brilliant and charismatic Mandela.

The story begins in South Africa after the fall of Apartheid.

Released after serving 27 years as a political prisoner, Nelson Mandela is elected the new president of the deeply divided nation. With the angry South African blacks one one side and distrustful white Afrikaners on the other, Mandela sees an opportunity to heal old wounds through sport.

He rallies support for South Africa's nearly all-white Rugby team. And wisely enlists, or rather inspires, the following of the team's captain, Francois Piennar, played by Matt Damon. Piennar encourages his team to adopt the new South African anthem and to reach out to the black community.

Through the rugby team, Mandela sets the example.

The story weaves politics and sport, a recipe for some of the best feel good movies. The climax of the 1995 Rugby World Cup finals between South Africa and the mighty New Zealand all-blacks becomes more than just a match.

At stake is more than just a World Cup Title.

It is the nation's heart and future.

In top inspirational movies, there is usually a message to tie everything together. Here, it is the Invictus Poem. The Invictus Poem is credited with helping Mandela survive his 27-year incarceration. Invictus, meaning unconquered, refers to Mandela's own personal victory.

"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul."

These inspirational words will probably become, if not already, one of the most memorable inspirational movie quotes. They bring poignancy. As with his unconquerable soul, they reflect Mandela's vision for an unconquerable South African nation.

With those inspirational words, we already knew who was going to win.

Watch Invictus.

And you'll know why feel good movies give us much more than comfort.

They show us that we can be masters of our fates and captains of our souls.
