Motivation is the incentive, drive and enthusiasm to achieve or do something.

And in the area of success, I define motivation as ambition. It's the drive to achieve success, whatever the meaning of success is to you.

So let's think about ambition.

Ambition can sometimes be a scary word.

Why?

Because being ambitious not only implies that you aim high. But that you also have the talent and abilities to achieve those great heights. And more often than not, we don't think too well of ourselves.

That's why most of us never think of ourselves as ambitious. We get dizzy. It's just too scary to think too high.

And if you're not familiar with ambition, chances are you're more acquainted with fear.

And the fear of failure is one of the most common fears.

I know.

Why is it that the thought of looking for a better job makes us sweat? And why does the idea of starting our own business make our hearts soar and sink at the same time?

Because when we take one ambitious step, the fear of failure is only one step behind.
