A Short Love Poem by E. E. Cummings

by Mary
(Baltimore, US)

A Short Love Poem
by E. E. Cummings

“Here is the deepest secret nobody knows.
Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
And the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide.
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart.
I carry your heart.
I carry it in my heart.”

PS. Sorry, didn't know if there was a title to this short love poem. Don't also really know if it's about love. But I think it is. Anyway, I love it as I's sure you'll love it, too.

This is the last part of "i carry your heart with me", which is one of the most beautiful poems I have ever read.

I love that poem, too.

Mary, thanks very much for sharing E.E. Cummings' short love poem.

I remember reading his poems in literature classes. I've always loved them. It's nice to read this one again.
